Welcome to ARAGORN, a new EU-funded project on a mission to combat soil contamination in Europe.

Aragorn is here to guide land managers in Europe dealing with urban, peri-urban and rural contaminated soils, and it focuses on tackling persistent contaminants. Its comprehensive framework identifies contaminated sites and guides effective remediation and restoration strategies, aligning with the EU Soil Strategy.

ARAGORN is more than a concept,
it's a collaborative effort

Aragorn acts with a network that supports EU policy and international commitments for a healthier, restored environment across the continent.

It will develop frameworks with land managers across Europe and it will create user-friendly tools to distinguish between regrettable and restorative remediation. These tools will help pinpoint contaminant hotspots, assess risks to humans and the environment, outline the costs of inaction, and compare the benefits of different remediation approaches. The goal is to resore the health of the soils and ecosystems, and create resilient land-development strategies after remediation.

What's the problem?
